Gavin "Grunt" Peterson

Artist | Graphic Designer | Photographer

I've been interested in art since an early age. What started out as rough outlines of cars, bikes and planes of (mostly) my own imagination, soon developed into high quality artwork as I entered high school and college.

Those formative years were spent experimenting with mediums and techniques as I tried to develop my own artistic style. One of those mediums was photography. On a trip to South Korea, I purchased a Nikon SLR (maybe an FM or FE) with a 35mm prime lens. Rather than take the time to read a book or take a class about photography, I tried to figure it out through trial and error. I didn't quite figure it out. Within a year or so, my camera was permanantly stored in a closet, as other interests took priority.

The next 20 years or so were spent flying fighters in the US Air Force. In my free time, I continued my passion for fine art and graphic design - channelling that creative enrgy into aviation artwork, patches and t-shirt designs for some of the units I flew with. I purchased a digital camera on a whim, this time a Nikon D7100, with the hope of using it to help refine my fine art skills. This time I put in the work, reading books and taking classes, and I haven't put the camera down since.
